Teaming up pre-covid with the fantastic teams at JXB Projects and Goodman’s, PV Structures was asked to design and construct a Solar Car Park Shade Structure System, that took advantage of the outdoor space at this Goodman’s facility in Eastern Creek, in Sydney’s west. Using our “Premium” framing profile, PV Structures went to work on designing a system and a layout that worked best for the clients needs.
Then came COVID..
Fast forward a couple of years the world will never forget and the project kicked off again. This time also introducing AGL Energy Solution as the clients preferred solar supplier. Together, we set to work on designing, engineering, fabricating and installing a 485kW Solar Car Park Structures Shading System.
The first obstacle was the ground.. Being in western Sydney, the first and major obstacle PV Structures and our engineers had to overcome was the extremely poor quality of ground, where in some areas we, upon further geotechnical analysis, found that there was up to 7m of non-structural fill and several major, previously unknown, deeply buried services to try and negotiate. Engaging even more specialist geotechnical testing and also further analysis of the surrounding infrastructure, we were able to develop 5 different footing types as combinations of deepened bored pier and/or bridging footings, along with tying the new footings into the existing slab infrastructure, that allowed us to mitigate the poor ground conditions, which then allowed us to confidently continue on with the project..
Working on a live site is always difficult, however with great communication between JXB Projects, Goodman’s and the experienced PV Structures Projects team, the footings, the PVS Premium Profile structures and eventually the solar componentry, was all able to be successfully installed to the great satisfaction of all involved.. This was a great project to be involved with, from conception to completion.
