PV Structures and our sister company Shade and Membrane Structures Australia were originally contracted to offer on site Project Management and installation services for the solar carpark shade structure and slab connections only on this project. That quickly grew in scope. First the new scope needed to include the exploration of the slab. We also needed to design the layout of the shade structure and do further engineering; such as the design of both the slab connection detailing and also the column connections to the slab as well.
Throughout the project it became obvious that the head supplier couldn’t complete the contract for various reasons, so in negotiation and in working with the client Energy Action, SMSA / PV Structures effectively purchased the completion of the project so that we could then complete the project under contract ourselves to Energy Action. This included;
- the design and installation of the purlins,
- the installation of the structures
- offer of assistance to Energy Action with the installation of the panels as well
In this instance, the design and layout of the PV portion was done by other partners. However, they simply ran under our project management ensuring a successful completion of the project.
Engineering for Commercial Solar Success
In this project our teams superior design, fabrication and engineering abilities were highlighted. We were able to adapt to what our client, Energy Action, needed to get the job done. In this case, the job was completed and the results are now providing benefit. This benefit is for both the Woolworths, Leichhardt customers and the shopping centre property owners.
