Here at PV Structures we love hearing of the ongoing innovations and developments in solar throughout our industry. And of course we love to look back on the projects that we have completed and see how they are going. We are pleased to say that the Castle Plaza project in Edwardstown, South Australia is still going strong. In fact, the project is an integral part of the whole centre’s solar program.
The Solar Program at Castle Plaza has been hailed a success by both the centre staff and the shoppers of the facility.
Castle Plaza Centre Manager, Rebecca McDonald stated: “Our new solar shaded parking offers a great point of difference for Castle Plaza. It supports our customers with improved facilities and our tenants by making the centre an even more attractive shopping destination. And combined with our storage battery, its makes Castle Plaza one of Australian retail’s most advanced renewable energy locations.”
Combining Forces: Rooftop, solar car parks and batteries
The solar car park at Castle Plaza is stores energy by the addition of a Sungrow Samsung battery. This program has been an innovative trial within shopping centres and shows the leadership and vision of the Vicinity team. With solar and renewables a key talking point at the moment, the efforts made in the last few years are centre stage.
We love to see the success of all of our projects. Like all the projects that we work on, it is wonderful to see the environmental impact; but we also enjoy monitoring the cost savings. At Castle Plaza, rooftop solar panels, combine with solar carparks; add battery storage and it can be an innovative option. It is no longer an option that is out of the price range of the average centre either. Instead, with power purchasing agreements it is a very attractive investment.
